Oily skin has some rules: the right formula, the right ingredients and products to avoid shine as well as to keep cracks under control. We have talked to some dermatologists like Dr. Dennis Gross, Dr. Timm Goueleke and Dr. Friedmann on this issue, but before learning this routine, you need to understand the characteristics as well as the properties of oily skin:
What it looks like: Usually, oily skin has wider pores and is more prone to acne.
What is fat: Our body produces fat called sebum, which keeps skin soft and supple. However, the more sebum the body produces, the more the glands enlarge, which dilates the pores. In the meantime, all the excess fat stays on the surface of the skin. Oily skin can be inherited but can also be the result of hormonal changes caused by the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, etc.
Routine steps:
Cleanse your face in the morning and in the evening:
Dr. Friedmann insists that the first step in a good routine is "a gentle cleansing, both in the morning and in the evening, to remove grease." Although, in the evening a double cleansing would be better as with double cleansing (with oil and then foam or gel) you remove all the dirt, oil as well as dead skin.
Toning:Toning is an integral step in all skin care routines as it helps restore the pH balance in the skin, which keeps the oil production under control. A good toner will narrow the pores, making them look smaller as well as remove impurities that are on the surface of the skin. If your toner contains AHA or BHA it also helps in deep cleansing of the pores as well as in removing poisons and impurities. If you have oily skin, look for natural ingredients like chamomile, rose or ginseng to tighten the skin as well as reduce inflammation.
Breakfast: Start with a soothing toner, as you should not use any strong ingredients, look for one that contains moisturizing ingredients such as aloe vera, ginseng or hyaluronic acid.
Evening: this is the time when you need to add a stronger toner to narrow the pores and remove excess oil as well as impurities that the skin has got during the day. Use a toner that contains AHA as these can penetrate deep into the pores.
Hydration:
Many people with oily skin do not hydrate their skin as they think that hydration will make the skin even more oily, but you should understand that excessive fat production is caused due to skin dehydration. With the use of moisturizer, the level of hydration and oil production is balanced. Look for gel moisturizers that are similar in water texture and are lightweight, as they contain the lowest level of oil and wax. Also check if they are non-comedogenic, which means they do not clog pores.
Breakfast: In the morning use a light formula or a serum. Serums are very moisturizing and are rich in active ingredients, which does not give the skin a heavy feeling. Skin varies from person to person, even those with oily skin, therefore, we recommend that you try using a serum and see if it is lowering the level of fat on the skin, then if you think you need moisturizer, then try a light moisturizer.
Evening: in the evening you can use a heavier cream, as this is the time when your skin loses its hydration and tries to regenerate.
Tip: do not use facial oil: if there is one routine step you should avoid, it is facial oil. Dr. Timm Goueleke warns us against them by saying "rich facial oils and essential oils will clog your pores" which causes cracking. Dr. Dennis Gross agrees, "Look for non-fat products and avoid products with natural oils - as these can clog pores and cracks."

The key to skin resilience is knowing your skin and treating it well, which is why investing in a skin care routine is one of the best decisions you will ever make. This is the reason
1. STEP 1 - cleaner and tonic
Each step in preparing optimally skin routine to the next step, which is why it is key to starting your routine appropriately - and the way to do this is with a laxative and good tonic .
Why clean?
Cleansing your skin is essential to your routine to remove impurities, oil and other unwanted blemishes as well as help the skin maintain proper hydration levels.
Why toning?
Toning is a natural part of the cleansing step and the key to preparing your skin for the next step. Reduces the pH levels in your skin, soothes and ensures that it absorbs creams and serums that will continue.
Do not deceive the skin without a good start; is the first step towards a great skin!
STEP 2 - EYES
Pay more attention to the skin around the eyes if you do not want to age prematurely, this is where the first signs of aging tend to appear.
Why eye cream?
The skin around your eyes is very delicate, which makes it more exposed to irritation, so it is important to use eye cream instead of the usual day or night cream.
STEP 3 - SERUM
Here is the step where you and your serum prepare your skin!
Why serums?
The products will penetrate the skin efficiently and offer powerful technologies even deeper into the skin to effectively improve the effect of your day and night cream.
STEP 4 - HYDRATION
In the last step you add hydration in the form of day or night cream.
Why day cream?
The day cream provides you with hydration throughout the day and also serves as your protector against environmental aggressors, sun damage and polluted air. This is why day creams are generally formulated with protective active ingredients.
Why night cream?
Night creams give your skin extra nourishment. Just as you rest and recover overnight to prepare for the next day, so does your skin, so it is important to help optimize the natural rejuvenation process by using a night cream.
Invest in a skin care routine today and turn those bad skin days into good days and the glow will look!
During the day:
Remember SPF
We can not emphasize more the importance of applying SPF on a daily basis. Sun damage is one of the main contributors to skin damage such as: small lines, wrinkles, dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Although you think that applying a thick sunscreen can cause damage to the skin, in fact it helps reduce the appearance of acne scars as well as hyperpigmentation, which if left unprotected, can not fade.
During the night:
Use retinol
Although the prospect of retinol use scares some, oily skin tolerates retinol. Dermatologists swear by retinol and insist that you should include retinol in your routine from the age of 20. Retinol is a form of vitamin A which thickens the deep layer of the skin, smoothes wrinkles by increasing collagen production and helps reduce the production of fat, narrowing pores as well as improving acne prone skin.
Retinol should be used in the evening and you should start using small amounts at first. Start using 2 to 3 times a week in the first month, and until the skin gets used to it, you can increase the amount.
